While critics argue that mobile phones cause classroom disruptions, I firmly believe that students should be permitted to bring them to school, as they serve as vital safety tools, powerful educational resources, and effective instruments for cultivating digital responsibility. Primarily, smartphones provide immediate access to emergency contacts in unpredictable situations, while simultaneously functioning as portable libraries that offer instant educational apps and research materials to enrich academic engagement. Admittedly, excessive screen time and cyber-distractions are legitimate concerns; however, rather than imposing a blanket ban, schools can implement structured guidelines that teach students to self-regulate their usage, thereby transforming potential vices into essential life skills. By integrating supervised phone usage into daily routines, educators not only minimize digital addiction but also prepare teenagers for a technology-driven workforce that demands constant connectivity and information literacy. Ultimately, banning mobile phones merely avoids the issue, whereas a balanced, policy-driven approach empowers young learners to navigate the digital landscape responsibly and independently.
